Ambivalence Series - Original Abstract Painting
Original Abstract Acrylic Painting on Canvas.
Size: 91.4 x 91.4 cm (framed) & 91 x 91 cm (unframed).
Shveta Maini is a Hertfordshire–based abstract artist whose intimately layered paintings explore memory, movement, and the quiet poetry of life. Born and raised across the vibrant cities of India, her childhood—marked by constant relocations as the daughter of a naval officer—immersed her in rich cultural tapestries. This upbringing fostered a deep connection to texture, color, and the fluid unpredictability of the sea.
Trained initially in surface textile design at the London College of Fashion, Shveta developed a keen eye for pattern and tactile form. While art was ever-present, it wasn’t until 2020 that she committed fully to her practice—transitioning from structured design to the expressive freedom of abstraction.
Working from her studio in Hertfordshire, Shveta describes her process as “painting the in‑between”—those liminal spaces where silences hum and chaos heals. Through immersive layering of pigment, texture, and spontaneous mark‑making, she gives form to emotional landscapes that resonate on both personal and universal levels.
Location: Hertfordshire / London, UK
Ambivalence series invites viewers on an emotional voyage—through layered paint and layered feeling—encouraging self-reflection and a rediscovery of one’s own “homecomings,” whether literal or metaphorical.
Why Ambivalence Resonates?
Shveta describes the series as a “captivating duality of emotions,” where opposing feelings coexist not in conflict, but as forces that shape identity. Ambiguity here becomes inspiration—a visual diary of her journey.
